How Not Giving a F*ck Made Me a Better Coach
In a world of ambiguity, uncertainty, and resistance to change, I have constantly found myself in roles that required me to be clear, provide a path forward, and help people grow. The constant pressure to be "on" and "lean in" and commit with "yes, and…" can start to take its toll. We are only human - stress, burnout, and the impacts of constant challenge and conflict are real concerns. Inspired by the the 2016 bestseller "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" by Mark Manson this session will explore your core values, define your NUTs (Non-Negotiable Unalterable Terms) and challenge your perception of how special and unique you are. We'll define the things that matter to us and place our challenges in context. We'll also work to define and develop a "Stoic" mindset, and some associated behaviors and practices, that will drive an action plan to help us focus on what matters, and accept what doesn't. At the end of the session you will (hopefully) leave with some new tactics and understanding to help you deal with the trials of being a change agent in a world of "But we've always done it that way…" *** Disclaimer - While the source material for this session is famously laced with curse words, the references to the title and chapters and content are "tongue in cheek" to align with the title - the content of the session will remain professional, and family friendly, and avoid curse words. ***
Take Aways
- Define their own core values and unalterable terms
- Identify the "pain points" where values and terms are being challenged, and create an action plan to address those arenas
