Data Modeling - Architecting Relationships
Tuesday, July 27, 2021 - 9:00 PM UTC, for 1 hour.
Regular, 60 minute presentation
Room: African 50 & African 60
Coding languages change, new tools emerge, but one thing remains: Data modeling. Okay there's probably more things that remain, but really, if you don't build a solid foundation of modeling your relationships, you're in for a world of pain (and whomever is unfortunate enough to inherit the project after you). In this fun presentation, I'm going to help you explore the good, the bad, and the ugly side of data modeling. Using Human Relationships as an analogy, we will discuss what types of relationships exist, when (if ever) you should leverage them, and ultimately help you build faster and more flexible applications by building better models.
Prerequisites
No prerequisite, although a knowledge of basic data modeling does help.
