Inviting People In
Tuesday, July 25, 2023 - 7:30 PM UTC, for 1 hour.
AT THAT (In-Person Only) Regular, 60 minute presentation
The rise of all-remote and hybrid work environments has affected our access to the collaborative environments we enjoyed when we were in person. It inadvertently builds walls that can silo us from our teammates. So it’s even more important that we make efforts to maintain connections and make our teammates feel genuinely welcomed. When people know they belong, teams can thrive, collaborate, and accomplish amazing things! In this talk, I encourage attendees to take this opportunity as we redefine what hybrid working environments look like - to reflect on how we can ensure we’re inviting people in. I cover how in 5 steps: 1. Reflect on who you are 2. Identify the perspectives you’re missing 3. Invite people in - from short-term solutions to long-term initiatives 4. Build impactful connections with people in a psychologically safe environment 5. Apply what they’ve learned during the conference and when they return to work. From a practical standpoint, participants will take away: • Tools they can use as individuals or with their team to develop a better understanding of themselves and their teammates • Actions they can take to build more inclusive and psychologically safe environments • A better understanding of what it’s like to be someone who hasn’t felt included (I’ll provide some of my personal experiences)
