Jacob Astar

My favorite part of tech is it’s function and the impact that it can have on people’s lives. Every project I work on must have a meaningful purpose otherwise I get bored real fast. Knowing this, I’ve spent my time looking for a career where where I can have a positive effect on real world problems. In my latest role, I serve as an application security engineer for a company with roughly 3000 deployed applications worldwide, 150,000 employees and hundreds of millions of customers. In my spare time, I enjoy learning. Whether it’s a new programming language, or security toolset, I don’t stop. This has lead to me achieving several industry certifications such as CISSP and CSSLP, and I’m currently studying for my OCSP hoping to test sometime in 2023. In effort to break away from tech a bit, I do enjoy reading non-fiction war memoirs, video games, and recently started learning to play guitar.
