Chat - What’s your experience with Automated Testing of Web Apps

My team is planning to automate some integration testing of a certain vended web platform. Currently testing is fairly fragile because of data driven changes on a page. We would like to explore innovative alternatives to have less fragile testing scripts. I am particularly interested in learning from others with experience with the VerifyTests GitHub/NuGet package, but am open to learning from anyone in this area. Our testing tool is based in Java, but the website is of course JavaScript, CSS. HTML when rendered.
