I don’t have a college degree. It wasn’t for lack of trying though, my personality just didn’t mesh with the lecture-style setting that universities provide. I taught myself how to code because I wanted to build a Guitar Hero tournament community. That’s it. No other reason. While building that community, I learned that building things with code excited me. Even more so, I learned that building community with my peers was my passion. I was a small-town girl that wanted to build something bigger than myself. With that desire and the passion to elevate and bring others together, I built a career far beyond what I could ever imagine. Developers have the skill set to build almost anything they want through code. Let’s put those skills to good use and change the world around us. What you’ll gain from attending this session: - Life hacks to help you advance your tech career - Tactical ways you can invest in your future - Opportunities to shift technical ownership to contributors versus companies
